Being a new gallery, there is a unique opportunity for artists to apply for an exhibition that can be held in 2017.  Please contact us to enquire about exhibiting at the Drill Hall Studio, or click here for an application form.

Calling artists - would you like to exhibit your art?

Going Dutch

A visitor to The Drill Hall Studio donated several boxes of old Dutch books, and asked if we could do something with them.

‘Going Dutch’ is our first group exhibition for 2017 - an exhibition of altered books. If you would like to be part of this exhibition, please email us at, or call in to register and collect a book to work with.

As the books are in Dutch - this will be our theme.  Artworks must be delivered by Wednesday 15th February. All artists are welcome to participate.

RAW - Kathy Cornwall

Friday 24th March 6.30pm

Is resident artist, Kathy Cornwall’s first solo exhibition with The Drill Hall Studio. RAW is an exploration into the effects that war has on soldiers. In this poignant and powerful portrait exhibition, Kathy has captured the emotion and vulnerability, as well as the strength and dignity of military personnel over multiple wars, experiences and injuries.

To be opened by Troy Rodgers, Former Rifleman at 6th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, Army Photographer and Townsville Bulletin Photographer.  As The Drill Hall Studio is housed in what was part of Townsville’s first military base, dating back to the late 1800s, it is particularly apt that this exhibition is being shown here.

Exhibition runs  until Anzac Day 25 April
